Reading Ambassadors

Our Reading Ambassadors are a dedicated team of young leaders committed to promoting a lifelong love of reading across our school community. More than just book lovers, they are active advocates who ensure that reading remains at the very heart of our learning.

Our ambassadors undertake a variety of responsibilities:

  • Reading daily with children across all year groups to build confidence and fluency.

  • Meeting termly with Ms. Wright to share pupil voice and agree actions to support the school’s reading vision.

  • Present to their peers, members of SLT and school governors to share the work that they are undertaking in the school.

  • Participating in learning walks to observe reading in the classroom and ensure it remains a top priority.

  • Leading whole school events such as World Book Day and Spelling Bee.

  • Organising termly reading competitions.

  • Working with school staff to organise a termly author visit.

This year, our reading ambassadors have been collaborating on a new reading project with fellow reading enthusiasts from Kings, our local secondary school. They meet twice every half-term to read with children and are currently organising a poetry recital.

To celebrate their contributions to the school, reading ambassadors are invited to at least one reading-inspired trip a year. This year, they have been invited to attend an MC Grammar concert in Leister Square, The Boy at the Back of the Class at Rose Theatre and The Addams Family at Camberley Theatre.
