We are ten pupils from Year 5 and 6 who are passionate about art and music!  

Aarohi, Aeris, Samaira, Priyana, Alexis, Danielle, Marika, Olivia, Anvi, Brielle  

 

Our aims  

Our mission is to improve art and music across the school so that the pupils at South Camberley School have the best provision and opportunities in art and music. We want to help inspire them to become lifelong artists and musicians.  

 

What we do  

We met regularly to discuss and plan how we can support pupils and raise money to improve provision.  

What we have achieved so far since we started in 2024:   

• Four successful fundraisers – two ’bring and buy’ sales, an ice cream sale and a family Christmas card workshop  

• We supervise the music room three times a week, so children can come in and enjoy it at lunchtimes.  

• We planned, developed and budgeted for the junior music room, including buying instruments, designing the wall wrap and choosing the books for the musical library – we had to formally present our proposals to Mrs. Wright before we could have the ’green light’ for the project!  

• Completed staff and pupil surveys to see how pupils and staff feel about music and ideas about how we can improve lessons and opportunities such as trips and concerts  

• Used our funds to buy books, facilitate staff training in music teaching and rent a whole class set of amazing glockenspiels.  

• Supported children in art lessons alongside the teacher  

• Increased the number of musical trips and opportunities, including singing in local care homes, singing at Young Voices at the 02, singing at the Surrey Singing Festival, Watt Gallery trip, theatre trips, West End musical trip and links with our local secondary schools.  

• Increased the number of music clubs, including more choirs, drumming, guitar and uke club, IRock and music and piano lessons. 

   

  

Our current focus

At the moment we are focussing our attention on the infant sites. We are asking the staff and pupils there about music lessons, trips/opportunities and clubs with a view to then planning how to make their music lessons even better and increasing musical opportunities and clubs.
