Year 6

Kayaking

On Tuesday 16th May, some of our Year 6 children took to the water, Kayaking. It was a beautiful day and apart from some initial nerves, the children all got in and were fantastic. During the session, they learned how to paddle and control the kayak and played some confidence building games. They were a credit to the school and a number of passers-by commented on how brilliant an experience they were having and how much they were enjoying it. Some feedback from the children; Kian said, "It was fun" and Violet enjoyed kayaking under the bridge, all thought it would be "cool to do it again". Thank you to all the adults who supported us this afternoon.

Residential Trip to Swanage

Dear Parents

The children are very sad to be leaving Swanage this afternoon but looking forward to seeing their families! Everyone slept well and is taking part in their last activity!

The children are expected back at Redwood Campus at 3:40pm.  We will text parents if there is a variation on this time.

Dear Parents

Another fun filled day, which was warmer and not as damp! The children made a big splash into coasteering and paddle boarding! So very proud of them all for making the most of opportunities!

They are now celebrating their successes of the week by enjoying a disco and loads of outdoor sports!

Sure they will sleep soundly, again!

After an epic day of water and fun we are thoroughly soaked but happy! We have been kayaking, body boarding and raft building.

This evening some of us are off to catch some crabs and the rest of us are holding a mini Olympics!

It's 10pm and the children are all in bed and sleeping - victory!

We have had an amazing day in the woods and unleashed our inner Bear Grylls and Katniss Everdeens!

This evening, we played games on the beach and took an impromptu dip in the sea (Mrs Strydom led the way head first...quite literally!)

It's set to rain all day tomorrow but we will be braving the water in our wetsuits to build rafts and kayak.

We have arrived safe and sound! The children were fantastic on the journey and have settled into their rooms with great excitement. We got going straight away with half of the groups paddle boarding and the other half competing in teamwork challenges.

After battling with our wetsuits (which took Olympian skills) we are now looking forward to a hearty dinner, followed by an evening of crabbing on the seafront.

Year 6 children learnt to sew bunting using a sewing machine as part of a DT project to create decorations for the charity, Age Concern, who were redecorating the Rainbow Café in Camberley town centre.  This is part of our ongoing commitment to growing good citizens who recognise the value in supporting our local community.

Gill, the manager of Age Concern, came in to school during a special assembly to collect the bunting and to show our Year 6 pupils why the café is such an important part of many local older people’s lives.

She sent us this photograph of the bunting on display in the café and said that the patrons think it looks “wonderful” and that they are extremely grateful for the hard work of our pupils.

Well done, Year 6!

Science Day

On the 4th of November 2016, year 6 took part in the whole school Science Day.  Year six visited King's Internationals High School science department where we were allowed to  use the equipment to run an experiment.

Sewing

Year 6 pupils recently put their sewing skills to the test when they created vintage bunting for the Age Concern Café in Camberley.  Mrs Harrington, our lovely sewing genius, was very impressed with the pupils' natural ability and enthusiasm!  The bunting will be hung in the café for all the patrons to admire.

Kings Maths Challenge
Year 6 pupils attended a challenge at Kings International earlier this week.  They were a credit to our school because they worked collaboratively and persevered as a team to do their best.  As a result, they won the challenge!  Well done, Mikayla, Jahnvi and Darya.

Year 6 have been learning about the events which lead up to the start of World War 1.

They re-enacted  it in their own unique way!
