Love Mrs Marsden and Mrs Robinson x
We have been busy weighing different objects to see which items are heavier and which items are lighter.
Starry, Starry Night
Using the famous painting of Starry Night by Van Gogh as the main focus, Year 1 had their creative juices flowing when painting their own version - they look fantastic!
Year 1 have been using technology to turn themselves into pirates! They took a photo of their friend, uploaded it to a computer and then used their creative skills to add pirate features.
Star Gazing Evening
Year 1 had a fantastic evening learning about the night sky and looking through a powerful telescope at the moon. We warmed up by drinking hot chocolate and eating yummy Oreos. We created our own night sky pictures as well as hunting for nocturnal animals! An exciting evening was had by all!
In numeracy we have been taking part in a bowling fiesta! We each had two goes at bowling the ball. We then had to independently add the amount of skittles we knocked over to find the total.
It was so much fun!
As part of our DT topic we have been busy designing and making African Masks!
Here are just a few of our marvellous creations...
Walking Through the Jungle
As part of our topic on Africa, Year 1 acted out the story 'Walking through the jungle'. Each group had a different animal and action to act out. We think they did a great job!
Tens and Ones
In year one, we have been learning to represent numbers using objects. We used tens and ones to make teen numbers.
Year 1 had an amazing Hook Day! After going through passport control and security, we boarded our flight to Kenya and went on a safari in the playground. We found lots of African animals and had lots of fun! We tasted different fruits grown in Africa and made collages of African people.
