Reception Trip to West Wittering
The Reception Trip to West Wittering was a huge success! Look at the children having fun on the beach and learning about beach safety from the lifeguard. The sun shone and there were sandcastles galore topped by flags made by the children at school.
We have learnt to name and use a wide range of instruments.
Some children are able to play instruments in time to the music.
We have been learning to recognise, create and record simple and complex repeating patterns.
We have enjoyed using a wide range of equipment.
As part of our learning we have made minibeasts using a range of materials.
We have been learning to retell familiar stories and create our own stories using small world equipment.
Reception have been learning about time. They enjoyed a lovely game of 'What's the time Mr Wolf?' on the field using a big clock to make the o'clock times.
As part of our learning about growth and life cycles, we had a gardening day. We dug up the weeds and then planted different seeds and plants in the gardens and in tubs. Everybody enjoyed taking part. Thank you to the parents who came to help and those who donated plants and seeds.
The Reception children have settled well into the school routine. Here are some photographs of children making friends and exploring the learning environment both inside and outside. The children are learning to share, take turns and play cooperatively with each other. We have started to introduce letter sounds through daily Read Write Inc sessions. The children have been keen to take on the role of the teacher to practise the correct letter formation using the Read Write Inc rhyme.
