Safer Recruitment Policy
South Camberley Primary and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, governors, visitors and volunteers to share this commitment. This is reflected on our website and on all documents, adverts, and recruitment paperwork.
As part of the interview procedure, there is an assessment of a candidate’s suitability to work with children, along with the previous experience obtained and the skills portrayed.
South Camberley Primary and Nursery School complies with the Disclosure Barring Service requirements and all candidates are required to have an enhanced DBS check before commencing work. We will not discriminate unfairly against applicants on the basis of a conviction or other information revealed.
All new staff receive an induction pack and are required to sign to prove they have read our significant Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.
We comply with the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009. These regulations prohibit anyone who is disqualified themselves, or who lives in the same household as a disqualified person, from working in our setting.
References are sought before interviews and any discrepancies or anomalies taken up at interviews. Gaps in employment history are fully and thoroughly investigated.

- Two people are involved in the short-listing of candidates.
Candidates are asked to bring along to an interview the ID required to allow the processing of a disclosure. Documents for successful candidates are kept in their personnel file. Those for unsuccessful candidates are destroyed by confidential means.
All candidates have to apply via an electronic application form and are asked to sign a paper copy to verify the information contained within it. CVs are not acceptable.
