The Big Picture
Throughout the month of June, the whole school was taking part in ‘The Big Picture’ – where all the children had the opportunity to delve into ART. The children have been making patterns inspired by the Brazilian artist - Roberto Burle Marx, creating seascapes, Paul Klee inspired patterns, designing and making clay shields, designing and making Venetian Carnival masks, creating Mayan clay Tiles, meeting and painting farm animals and designing trainers. The whole school has created some fabulous original art – please look at our photos.

Recent Wall Displays at The Orchard
Here are a few recent wall displays which have been created at The Orchard. They are a fun way of displaying children's work and showing what they are capable of.
Maths Building Challenge
On Friday 4th March, Year 5 and 6 children from schools across Surrey Heath competed in a maths challenge at Redwood Campus.
The challenge required skill in calculation, logic, memory and team work, and we are extremely proud to say that Redwood’s Year 6 team won this year’s event!
Well done to the following children, who were excellent representatives for our school:
Year 6 Team: George, Noah, Arlo, Ryndelle, Hannah, Polina, Lukas
Year 5 Team: Jahnvi, Ella, Aimee, Lukas, Lucky, Astha
World Book Day
World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
We invited the children at both infant campuses to come into school dressed as their favourite book character - the results were amazing. Children (and parents) had gone to a lot of effort which was fantastic. Here are just a few photos of some of the costumes.

School Council and Choir Entertain
The School Council, with Lukas and Astha (who represent South Camberley Primary School at the Surrey Heath Junior Council), put on an event at Redwood Campus for local senior citizens within our community on Monday 14th December. The School Council welcomed our guests and served tea, coffee and homemade biscuits. The choir entertained us with Christmas Carols and then the children spoke to our visitors about our school.
"The children were so polite and articulate," said one lady.
"It took us back to our own school days," said another lady.
The School Council were fabulous ambassadors for our school. I would like to thank them for all of their hard work this term.
Mrs Moore (School Council lead teacher)
The school council have been baking with Mrs Sullivan to get ready for the Surrey Heath Junior Council big event on Monday 14th December. The School Council have made gingerbread and anzac biscuits to serve to guests who will attend Carols and Coffee in the main hall at Redwood Campus.

We raised an amazing £227.48 to support the refugees in Syria which will be donated through UNICEF (one of our three chosen charities for this year).
The coin snake at Redwood Campus measured a whopping 54.74m long! Not only did we raise money to help others, we also took the opportunity to measure and mentally calculate a total.
Woodpeckers class raised the most money - £41.04 and clinched the coin snake award.
Thank you for all of your generous donations which will go a long way to supporting those less fortunate than us.
On Thursday during Drama Club, Years 3 and 4 are learning different drama techniques such as; voice, movement, mime, staging, soundscapes and expression. They have been looking at short improvisations based on a particular scenario which they are all really enjoying. One particular favourite activity is working in small groups, the children have 30 seconds to create an object or a shape by only using their bodies for example; a car, aeroplane, flower and a train.
They have also been exploring different emotions by creating emotive actions. A different emotion is called out and the children must strike a pose to portray that particular emotion.
Autumn Wall Displays at The Orchard
The teachers and children have worked hard to make the wall displays at The Orchard look wonderful!
Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers
A very big 'thank you' to everyone who shopped in Sainsbury's and saved the Active Kids Vouchers. This included: balls, beanbags, dance scarves, hoops, scooters, garden tools, stopwatches, netball posts, starting blocks, pop-up goal, ankle skips and many more items.
